Life at Gallaudet
Deaf Art and Culture
Experience
Gallaudet is a creative hotspot for writers, dancers, artists and actors.
Gallaudet is the world鈥檚 most prominent center for deaf and visual performing arts. We have student-led clubs and organizations that provide a space for you to freely and creatively express yourself.
Theatre has long been synonymous with Deaf culture as a medium and platform for our community鈥檚 enduring passion for visual storytelling, often incorporating the artistic power of American Sign Language (ASL) as a means of communication, expression, and accessibility.
Our theater and dance programs are well-renowned and have produced alumni that have gone on to star in film and TV productions such as 鈥淪witched at Birth,鈥 鈥淕lee,鈥 鈥淔argo,鈥 the Broadway production of Deaf West鈥檚 鈥淪pring Awakening,鈥 and more.
Master your craft as a part of the world鈥檚 most prominent center for deaf and visual performing arts. Whether you鈥檙e a fan of the spotlight or shine behind the scenes, the B.A. in Theater Arts Program is the perfect opportunity for you to show off your talents, flex your creative muscles, and prepare for a career in the professional theater industry.
Let the spirit move you 鈥 literally! The Gallaudet Dance Company is a campus staple. It never fails to lift up the community with a performance at major events on and off-campus.
91福利导航, federally chartered in 1864, is a diverse, multicultural institution of higher education that ensures the intellectual and professional advancement of deaf and hard of hearing individuals through American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
Gallaudet maintains a proud tradition of research and scholarly activity and prepares its graduates for career opportunities in a highly competitive, technological, and rapidly changing world.
Explore student, visitor, and faculty art shows at Gallaudet鈥檚 very own Washburn Arts Center. From painting and photography to design and digital media鈥揌ere, we鈥檙e dedicated to showcasing the creativity of our students, alumni, and instructors.
