The Athletics Department announced on May 2 that it was closing the baseball and women鈥檚 soccer programs. Dean of Student Affairs Travis Imel, 鈥�00 & G-鈥�02, explained in an email message to the university community that 鈥淎thletics is steadfastly committed to regularly evaluating its sports offerings, recognizing the importance of staying aligned with evolving needs and trends in our student body and sports team viability. It is with a heavy heart that a decision was made to close our baseball and women’s soccer programs, effective immediately.鈥� 

鈥淲hile this decision was extraordinarily difficult, we want to express our sincere gratitude to all the student-athletes, coaches, staff, and supporters who have been involved with our baseball and women’s soccer programs over the years. Your dedication, passion, and hard work have been instrumental in shaping the athletic culture at 91福利导航, and your contributions will always be remembered and valued,鈥� Imel continued.

鈥淲hile we bid farewell to these programs, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing a diverse and inclusive athletic experience for all Gallaudet students. We will continue to support our remaining sports programs and will be making an announcement soon with new opportunities to enhance the Athletics program offerings on campus.鈥�
