MedStar Health, Gallaudet, Miss District of...
MedStar Health joined forces with Jude Mabon茅, Miss District of Columbia, and the 91福利导航 Athletics training staff to create a video about cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillator (AED) devices to save lives. The filming took place on Hotchkiss Field on August 14, and the video was released on September 5.
MedStar Health is a nonprofit healthcare organization that operates ten local hospitals, including MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Its medical staff also works closely with several college and university athletic departments, including Gallaudet鈥檚, and with professional sports teams, including the Washington Wizards, Washington Mystics, Washington Capitals, and more. MedStar Health previously produced CPR/AED videos with the Wizards, Mystics, and Capitals, and Georgetown University Women鈥檚 Soccer. The new video will be the fifth in this series, and the only one in ASL.
Dr. Korin Hudson, an emergency medicine physician with MedStar Health, partnered with Jude Mabon茅, Miss District of Columbia; Tom McKnight, 鈥10, one of our athletic trainers; and Tra鈥橲hauna Tate, a senior physical education major, in making the video. Freelance interpreter Jerrin George also appears in the video. Silver Ridge Productions, a Chantilly, Virginia-based video production company, did the filming with support from Robert Weinstock, 鈥76 & G-鈥83,听补苍诲 Shara Winesburg, E-鈥11, from Gallaudet鈥檚 Office of University Communications.聽聽
Mabon茅 is conversant in ASL because she grew up with a deaf friend. She had the first of six heart attacks at age 16. Her platform in the Miss District of Columbia pageant and in the Miss America pageant in December is 鈥淐heck Your Heart.鈥 She is a graduate of American University, where she majored in international studies and ran in long-distance track events.
